Working Holiday

For those of you who are close to me or who read Dan’s blog, this is not news. But it merits a mention in this space.

In approximately 130 days Dan and I will be embarking on what the French government calls a “Working Holiday”. We are packing up our lives in Toronto and moving to Lyon, France for a year.

One. Whole. Year.

It’s exciting and crazy and there is much work to be done to prepare. I wasn’t sure how Ah, Bon? would evolve to encompass this part of my life, but knowing how helpful it’s been to read the trials and tribulations of other bloggers who have done the same thing, I think I’m prepared to share. This space has existed mostly as an online wishlist of sorts – a venue for the clothes horse in me to house all the frills and frocks that I would love to buy…if only money grew on trees. I don’t think that will change.

This is what I’m proposing: once a week for the next 21 weeks I will report on the status of our to-do list. Which is lengthy. And filled with things that seem insurmountable when you look at them all together. I think writing about it will help me to stay focused and in a way, it will also hold me to task. Getting these things done will also please the Husband. Everyone wins!

I’ll also profile some of my favourite French stores and foods and the things I’m most looking forward to experiencing while I’m there.

And then once the move happens I’m sure this space will transform again…but let’s get through the mighty to-do list and cross the pond before we figure that one out.

There is definitely thunder in our hearts these days!
